Service-Learning Institute for Educators - Testimonials from our Participants:

"I would give the Institute a 9.0 out of 10, and I don't know why I hold back a point. I learned a lot that will add a great deal of interest and excitement into my classes. That's for sure. But even more important, I felt so good all the time, thinking about teaching kids the -why- and the -how to- of genuine service. Awesome, truly awesome."

"Top notch professional development is a really important part of education. I was hesitant to sign up for 4-days over the summer, but it was a good investment of my time. I enjoyed the model of excellent teaching, ALL activities were purposeful and I will use the tools back in my classroom. Top Notch!"

"The Institute was by far the best teacher conference I have ever been to. Transformative. KIDS facilitators are fantastic. Well worth the trip from Georgia!"

"Although I thought I was doing service-learning, I learned I was leaving out two important "legs" of the KIDS stool - Academic Integrity and Apprentice Citizenship. I thought I was interpreting academics - the KIDS Model gave me clearer ideas and goals to make a project more accountable to learning objectives."

I want to share with you that everyone has been engrossed and engaged since attending the Institute. We are busy working our way through the KIDS Service-Learning Framework and are now in the 'Implementing the Plan' stage.

The kids are excited and motivated and it is clear to me that they care very much about what we are doing. Currently, I am seeing disengaged students who struggle in their studies write letters, a child with some behavior issues start to take on a leadership role, and all are very engaged in the project.
